Pop the champagne as today hails the long-awaited blog for Mode Merr! We are revamping our site and ready to cut loose with our new designs and are now taking custom orders! The new blog will be written by two of Mode Merr's team.
I'm Monika Jezebelle, Mode Merr's Editorial and Web Manager. I'll be posting here on the blog about fashion trends, events to attend, and general West Coast perceptions. I also run an online music calendar called Rockabilly L.A. which lists live musical shows in the rockabilly and psychobilly genres in So Cal. I have been a Mode Merr customer for 9 years, so I'll be sharing some of my unique collection on the blog as well. My fashion icons are David Bowie, Cher and Siouxsie Sioux; so my style is eclectic like myself. I'm not a prim pin-up girl but a real woman who loves going to concerts, rescues animals and drives a 1970 Cadillac hearse.
Owner and designer Angela Zampell will cover clothing construction, her new visions for women's designs for apparel and sewing patterns, and all things East Coast. As the owner and designer at Mode Merr for over 18 years, Angela combines her love of sewing and great fabric with all things retro and campy to create her vision for making form flattering pieces with a kick for all women. Her handmade creations stand the test of time, and are made individually with care. These pieces are not made in a sweatshop, but thoughtfully in her Rhode Island studio. Mode Merr believes in embracing your curves, so sizes range from XXS to XXXL with more plus sizes available on a custom basis. Angela’s other passions include kitschy crafting called Hot Glue Heroes and her sewing classes and future line of stylized sewing patterns called Sew Right Studios.
We hope this blog is informative and fun, and we'll each let our readers know who is writing which post, so here's to the future!
